Progress update for Growell Minoxidil 5% for men

Hi everyone, sorry for the late weekly update. Been kinda busy at work. By the looks of it, there seems to be not much of a difference. My hair's getting longer now. I'm not gonna shave it again. Just gonna let it grow and see how it goes. I've also been trying on some new stuffs, will share the details in the next few entries.

Progress update for Growell Minoxidil 5% for men

Hi everyone, here's the weekly update of my progress.

Like I mentioned last week, I noticed the amount of hair fall has reduced. I would say about 10% lesser compared to before using the Growell product.

I've also noticed that my hair seems to be stronger too. As mentioned last week, it doesn't fall off as easily when I pulled it.

My application routine remains the same, twice a day, once in the morning when I wake up and once before bed, after showering.

I started using 6 - 7 pumps instead because I noticed the medication doesn't seems to reach the scalp better, probably because the hair is getting longer.

Actually if you asked me, by the looks of it, there's not much progress if you compared the most recent photo to the first photo. But again, I am only 1.5 months into using this product. So I'm keeping my finger crossed and hope it works so I can share my joy with everyone.

Progress update for Growell Minoxidil 5% for men

Hi everyone, I'm currently in week 5 of the update. My entries updates have finally caught up with my current progress. From here on, I'll be doing a weekly update, so each entry means that a week has passed.

This is the 2nd week since I cut botak.

My hair has gotten a tad longer, so the balding areas are more obvious compared to the areas at the side and back.

The amount of hair fall remains status quo. In fact, I noticed that the amount of hair fall has significantly reduced. I mentioned I drop about 80 strands of hair a day, mostly when I was bathing.

However, during the past week when I'm botak, I noticed I dropped about 30 strands when I was showering.

Maybe the figures are not really accurate, but I felt that the hair loss reduced by 50%. I did not see a lot of hair dropping, even when I tried to rub my scalp harder. I also have a habit of pulling my hair once in a while. And 8 out of 10 times, hair will drop off. However, this has reduced too. Maybe 4 out of 10 times.

I think it could be because of the excessive hair loss phase the week earlier. Some forum users say that the excessive hair shedding occurs because Minoxidil 5% accelerates the hair loss, in order for the follicles to generate new baby hair.

I'll continue to monitor this pattern and give updates on this.

So far the progress is in line with what other users are experiencing. But according to 'them', you have to use it continuously for at least 6 months to see the effect.

I am also on the 2nd bottle of Growell. My first bottle lasted me 5 weeks, 16 sprays daily. I am on my 2nd bottle now.

Another reason to cut botak is that the medication will reach the scalp better. Also, now that I'm botak, I use only 5 sprays to cover the balding areas, which translates to better cost savings!

I am backdating the entries as I started using Growell product before started writing on this blog.

I made a brave decision to shave my hair. The last time I had my hair this short was 7 years ago, when I was in my Basic Military Training (BMT). Partly because my hair was too long for my work, and I think it will be easier to monitor the progress with shorter hair.

This is the progress after week 4. Coincidentally, I noticed the excessive hair falling stopped. It was about 5 to 6 days of excessive hair falling.

I had a number 2 hair cut. As you can see, the balding areas are the crown and receding from the front.

In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't apply the medication on my eyebrows. I tried on it once, then I decided to stop and observe the side effects on my hair first.

This is the progress after week 4. On average, I drop about 60 to 80 strands of hair daily. It falls from the roots, as I can see the 'bulb' at the end of the hair. I seldom, if not never, had hair fall due to breakage.

About 1 - 2 days after I took this photo, I experienced excessive hair loss. By excessive, I'm talking about 150 to 200 strands of hair loss a day. To be honest, I actually counted the amount of hair that I lost. It was so scary to the point I get goosebumps when I saw the amount of hair that fell off. It seemed that some are from the same follicle too.

before excessive hair 'shedding'

For the next 5 days, it just kept falling. I had doubts if I should continue the medication, and I wasn't sure when will this ever stop. Will it shed till I become bald completely?

I searched the web for similar experiences and most of the forums shared that it is actually normal to experience excessive hair loss. It means that the scalp is reacting to the medication and I should continue. Some of the reviews said they stopped using after experiencing this hair shedding so as to preserve whatever they have left.

I decided to continue with the medication because I felt that it is to be fair to the drug as well as to be fair to myself.

taken during excessive hair loss

The above photo was taken about 4 days into excessive hair loss phase. When I placed my hand over my hair, it definitely feels significantly thinner and lesser in volume.

Progress update for Growell Minoxidil 5% for men

This is the progress after week 3. It still looks the same as before. I noticed that after the solution dries, it kinds of make your hair rougher. After applying, I'll massage my scalp for 1 to 2 minutes to let the solution work into the scalp. There isn't any side effects thus far. No itch nor redness on the scalp.

By the way, this is not a sponsored post. I am not paid by Growell to do any form of advertisement. I bought the solution at Unity pharmacy for about S$111 for 2 bottles. This is purely a space for me to track my progress as well as share the developments to anyone who is facing the same issue as I am and looking for a solution.

Progress update for Growell Minoxidil 5%

This is the progress after applying Growell's minoxidil 5% for men after week 2.

To be fair to the product, as well as to be fair to yourself, I felt that it is important to cultivate a habit of applying twice daily. After week 2, the progress is similar as of the previous week.

The amount of hair loss as consistent as before I use the product. I drop about 50 strands of hair everyday. The nature of the fallen hair is from the roots, where I can see the "bulb" of the hair.

As seen from my photos, it is visible to see the balding spot from a distance. A closer look at the crown you'll be able to see that I only have 1 to 2 hair per follicle, which is little. A healthy follicle should consist to up to 4 strands.

This is the progress after applying Growell's minoxidil 5% for men after week 1.

I've applied it twice daily, once in the morning after I wake up, and once after showering, before going to bed at night.

I used 8 sprays or pumps each time, as directed. However, I noticed that the nozzle doesn't effective pump out the solution. So depending on the coverage, sometimes I'll give it 9 sprays.
